Short Bio
Sheila Herrera is a former special education. Committed to learning her craft she also worked as an editor and agent, helping to launch the literary careers of many of her clients. Sheila now writes picture books with humor and heart.
Long Bio
Sheila Herrera is a Mexican American kidlit author. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where she spent time making up plays in which she cast neighborhood friends. She became a special education teacher. She later became an editor and literary agent, helping to launch the careers of other kidlit writers and illustrators. Today, Sheila lives in the Sunshine State, spending much of her time reading, writing, mentoring kidlit writers, and critiquing manuscripts.
Many of Sheila’s stories explore her Mexican American identity. She is best known for her culturally rich stories that connect with children and adults across cultures.
